Local authors + local publisher + local bookstore = an awesome event! We are so excited to welcome five excellent authors from Sea Crow Press to our bookshop on Thursday, August 11th, from 2-4. Sea Crow Press is located in Barnstable, MA, and was founded by author/publisher Mary Petiet during the Covid-19 Pandemic. The following authors will be outside in front of our store under the tent: Scott Childress (Ronnie Willow and the Silver Mask), Janet Edmonds (Small Craft), Aline Lindemann (Drift), Mary E. McDermott (Old Orleans: Memories of a Cape Cod Town) and Mary Petiet (Moon Tide: Cape Cod Poems, Wash Ashore). Check out their books below, and come meet them on Sea Crow Press Day!
ABOUT SEA CROW PRESS
Sea Crow Press is committed to amplifying voices that might otherwise go unheard. In a rapidly changing world, they believe the small press plays an essential part in contemporary arts as a community forum, a cultural reservoir, and an agent of change. They are international with a focus on our New England roots.
SCP publishes creative nonfiction, literary fiction, and poetry. Their books celebrate our connection to each other and to the natural world with a focus on positive change and great storytelling. SCP follows a traditional publishing model to create carefully selected and edited books. In turbulent times, they focus on sharing works of beauty that chart a positive course for the future. They welcome emerging writers, experienced authors, and all readers.
Sea Crow Press is named for a flock of five talkative crows you can find anywhere on the beach between Scudder Lane and Bone Hill Road in Barnstable Village on Cape Cod. According to Norse legend, one-eyed Odin sent two crows out into the world so they could return and tell him its stories. If you sit and listen to the sea crows in Barnstable as they fly and roost and chatter, it’s an easy legend to believe.
