Ari Maravel "Gardens of Willowbend" Titcomb's Bookshop Rescheduled: Date to be announced.

This event will be rescheduled due to our driveway project.  Stay tuned for the new date!

What comes to mind when you close your eyes and think of a garden? Perhaps it's a memory of flowers you helped a grandparent tend when you were a child or the first patch of ground you cultivated as an adult.  Maybe your vision encompasses a large garden that took your breath away, with lush plantings in a symphony of colors.  Willowbend is the canvas for Ari Maravel's inspired plantings in the many impressive flower beds throughout the property.

Ari's beautiful book, "The Gardens of Willowbend; Beauty, Elegance, Serenity and Joy" is an inspiration!

Ari Maravel is a self-taught gardener, writer, and photographer.  His gardening education began when he was a teenager, as he watched his father, Gus, grow basil, oregano, tomatoes, roses, and hydrangeas in a small sunny garden in Brooklyn, New York.

After graduating from Columbia in 1962, Maravel spent two years in the Navy.  He spent more thqn 20 years writing for newspapers, including Baltimore's Evening Sun and the New York Times.  Maravel directed press coverage for 60 Minutes at CBS News and other broadcasts.  Press and promotion positions followed at ABC Sports, CARE, and the American Liver Foundation, where he produced a documentary that was broadcast on PBS.  Throughout his news career, he continued his gardening education via his homes in New Jersey.

After moving to Sandwich in 1998, he began his gardening career two years later at Willowbend.
